Panorama Over the Palatine Hill
Photographed & edited by Riccardo Vincenzi. Artist's recommendation: 28" x 40" (70cm x 100cm) printed on aluminum.
The Palatine is one of the seven Roman hills and has always represented a sacred place for the Romans. According to legend, the first Romans, Romulus and Remus, were found in a cave in the Palantine by a she-wolf, and nursed there. However, when the two famed brothers decided to form a city along the river they were unable to come to an agreement on which hill to build Rome on; Romulus preferred Palantine Hill, and Remus wanted to build the city on Aventine Hill. Eventually, Romulus killed Remus and founded the city of Rome.
Palantine is the most central of Rome's 7 hills, and one could call it the original hill.
